Mucosal antral cysts observed within a London inner-city population.
نویسنده
چکیده
Mucosal antral cysts(MACs) appear as dome-shaped soft-tissue opacities and have prevalences of between 1.6% and 8.7% on otherwise normal panoramic radiographs. The aim of this survey was to define the prevalence in the inner-city population in London. A 14% prevalence for MACs was observed in the panoramic radiographs of 1000 consecutive patients attending King's College Hospital dental casualty department sited in inner London, which is higher than those reported for other populations. MACs were not significantly associated with the presence of signs and symptoms of periapical areas of bone loss. The differential diagnosis and management of these lesions are discussed.

Need for and provision of general practice in London.
This study examines the spatial distribution of general practice in London, taking into account both practice and population characteristics. While need for general practice is higher in inner London, some areas of outer London experience high levels of need. Inner London tends to have a greater quantity but lower quality of general practice. However, as in the case of the needs indices, this s...
متن کاملSpecific Ultrasound Pattern of Perinatal Torsioned Ovarian Cysts: Sonographic-pathologic Correlation
Background: The accurate differentiation of perinatal torsioned ovarian cysts (PTOCs) in neonates is of utmost importance. This importance is due to the fact that if PTOCs are diagnosed properly, minimally invasive or conservative management approaches can be offered. The present study aimed to describe the ultrasound findings of PTOCs and compare the results with pathological findings.Me...

متن کاملA Rare Presentation of Odontogenic Keratocyst Mimicking an Antral Polyp

These masses are usually an antral polyp, mucoceles or mucous retention cysts. Odontogenic keratocyst, a benign odontogenic lesion presenting within the maxillary sinus is a rare entity. We present a case of odontogenic keratocyst of the maxillary sinus in a 35 years old fe...
متن کاملThe effects of ovarian enzyme modulators on folliculogenesis and cyst development in the porcine ovary
The first aim of the research conducted as part of this thesis was to investigate the expression and activities of 11PHSD enzymes in porcine mural granulosa cells and COCs from small, medium and large antral follicles, as well as from ovarian cysts. Both cloned lipHSD enzymes (11 PHSD 1 and 11PHSD2) were expressed in porcine granulosa cells however the results of the expression studies in COCs ...
